A jewel | about Juwelig
A piece of jewelry
is not something you make in a jiffy
it takes time
sometimes a lot of time
to think
and experience
then a sketch
or a drawing
sometimes not
choosing the material
and collecting it together
sometimes first a sample
then the beginning
shaping - forging - soldering
filing - sanding
looking - fitting - measuring
polishing - setting - polishing
a day goes by so quickly
it takes many hours
and a lot of love
it may not fit so well
in a fast time
but it is made
to love
for longer than a while

Juwelig 2007 - now
Juwelig 2007 - now
Goldsmithing started for me in 2000 with a goldsmithing course. The passion to create grew into my own gallery/shop in the Amsterdam Czaar Peterstraat. My gallery/shop with studio existed for ten years (2007-2017) at two different locations in the Czaar Peterstraat no. 151 and 134D. Juwelig was a pioneer in 2007 at the beginning of the redevelopment of the Amsterdam Czaar Peter neighborhood. The area is now hip and trending, but that was certainly not the case in the early years. The neighborhood still had all the characteristics of a real disadvantaged neighborhood with associated characteristics. It was hard work to put Juwelig on the map there. After long renovation work and recent construction of middle and high-end homes, the former harbor and workers area is now on the rise again. In my gallery shop(s) I have designed, sold and repaired a lot of jewelry. Shop customers and jewelry lovers often returned for something new, a beautiful gift or repair of a precious piece of jewelry. In 2017 I transferred my shop space in the Czaar Peterstraat to a fellow goldsmith. What remains is the passion to create something beautiful! From 2017 - now Jewelry jewelry can now be purchased and ordered via my site and online webshop. Travel and nature are a great source of inspiration. This can be the movement of the sea, a beautiful flower, a shell brought from a distant beach, the treasures of the earth in the form of a gemstone, a memory. Every piece of jewelry has a story in it.
All jewelry on this site is designed and made by myself as one of a kind or in a small series and where possible provided with my responsibility mark (master's mark) registered with WaarborgHolland since 2005. (an image of the responsibility mark can be found at the bottom of the page). Juwelig designs are registered. If you have a question about a custom order or would like to stay informed about my new designs, please fill in the contact/newsletter form or send an e-mail to [email protected]. You can of course also follow Juwelig via social media. You can find the icons at the bottom of the page. Annette Gorny - JUWELIG |
Social responsibility and sustainability
Jewelry is produced with materials from suppliers who have committed to a covenant for responsible entrepreneurship. More than 99% of the gold and silver comes from recycling♻️. Recycled metal reduces the extraction of precious mineral resources. In the Netherlands, the demand for gold and silver can be met for almost 100% through recycling (see also quote from a supplier). This makes the goldsmithing industry very sustainable or circular. New extraction or Fairtrade gold is not necessary in the Netherlands. * Fairtrade or fairmined gold means that the extraction is aimed at better and safer working conditions and a fairer gold price for the often small gold mining communities. However, it does not say much about sustainability in itself. * The CO2 footprint of recycled gold and silver is smaller than that of (fairmined) new extraction because the recycling takes place closer (within the EU). The price of fair trade or fair mined gold is significantly higher than recycled gold. Recycled gold and silver are also available in many forms and semi-finished products. * The circle from recycling ♻️ to delivery of precious metal or partial product under good working conditions according to EU standards and with a relatively lower CO2 footprint and more favorable price compared to fair mined is thus guaranteed. For me, these are important social and economic responsibilities to the customer and mineral resources. Quote from supplier: THE NETHERLANDS WORKS WITH RECYCLED GOLD “Gold is a sustainable material that has stood for value and purity for hundreds of years. The material is not lost, but is reused again and again due to its valuable properties without any difference in quality. The demand for gold in the Netherlands can be covered for almost 100% by recycled gold that is recovered from offered “waste” from the gold industry. The chain is already very sustainable in this respect.” Bijou Moderne |
